Every current government scheme that helps cover the cost of a heat pump — what's on offer, who qualifies, and the official link to apply for each one. Our installer directory covers the East of England, the West Midlands, Greater Manchester and Greater London, but this guide applies UK-wide.
The flagship UK heat pump grant. Covers air source, ground source and (from 28 April 2026) air-to-air heat pumps. A temporary £9,000 grant applies to eligible off-gas-grid homes currently heated by oil or LPG, running 21 July 2026 to 31 March 2027.

Nest can fund a heat pump installation together with insulation and other efficiency measures, mainly for lower-income households.
Nest scheme website →Scotland runs its own scheme, separate from BUS — you can't claim both. Up to £7,500 as a grant, rising to £9,000 for households in remote rural or island areas, plus an optional interest-free loan of up to £7,500 to cover the remaining cost.
Home Energy Scotland →Northern Ireland does not have access to the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. Support here is smaller and means-tested: the Affordable Warmth Scheme offers heating and insulation improvements for private owner-occupiers with a household income under £23,000. Heat pump installations may be included where appropriate, alongside insulation and general heating work.
