The grant is claimed by the property owner, not the occupier. If you rent, your landlord would need to apply — landlords are eligible but must contribute at least a third of the installation cost themselves.
Can I get it in Scotland or Northern Ireland?
No. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme covers England and Wales only. Scotland has its own scheme, Home Energy Scotland. Northern Ireland's equivalent scheme has closed.
What if I already have a heat pump?
The scheme is for replacing an existing fossil fuel system, and only one grant is available per property — so you can't claim it again if you already have a heat pump or have received a BUS grant before.
