What this site is

UK Heat Pump Finder is an independent directory of heat pump installers, currently covering the East of England, the West Midlands, Greater Manchester and Greater London. It exists because finding a genuinely MCS-certified installer is harder than it should be, and because MCS certification is a hard requirement for claiming the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant rather than an optional extra.

We are not affiliated with MCS, Ofgem, the UK Government, or any manufacturer or installer group.

Where the data comes from

Listings are compiled from public business information — company websites and public business listings — and then cross-checked against the official MCS installer register at mcscertified.com.

The data is refreshed periodically rather than continuously. That matters: an installer's certification status can change between refreshes, so the MCS badge on a listing reflects our most recent check, not a live lookup. Before committing to any installation — particularly if you plan to claim the grant — verify certification yourself on the MCS register. It takes under a minute.

What the MCS badge means here That we have matched this installer against the official MCS register at the time of our last data refresh. It is not a guarantee of current certification, and it is not an endorsement of their work.

How listings are ordered, and what is paid

Being listed is free. No installer pays for a standard listing, and we do not take commission on work booked through the site.

Within each area, listings are ordered alphabetically — not by rating, not by any commercial arrangement.

There is one exception, and we think it should be stated plainly: each area has a single optional Featured slot that an installer can pay for. A Featured listing appears above the others and carries a gold Featured badge, so you can always tell which listing is paid. Only one per area is ever sold. Featured placement has no bearing on whether an installer appears on the site at all, and it does not affect their MCS badge or their rating.

Ratings and reviews

Where a rating is shown, it comes from public business listings rather than reviews collected by us. We do not host, moderate or solicit reviews, and a rating should be read as a starting point for your own research rather than a verdict.

The guides section covers heat pump costs, grants, MCS certification, radiator sizing, noise and planning rules, and common misconceptions. Where guidance comes from government sources we link directly to the relevant gov.uk or Ofgem page so you can check it yourself.

Where sources genuinely conflict — and on heat pump policy in 2026, they sometimes do — we say so rather than picking whichever figure reads better. Our noise and planning guide is a live example of this.

Always verify directly at mcscertified.com before committing to an installation, particularly if you intend to claim the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.
